Your luggage was never "secure" anyway. If you have a TSA lock, it can easily be opened (the master keys are widely available). If you don't, it can easily be cut open by the TSA or others.

They wouldn't get anything valuable from my luggage anyways because anything of value wouldn't be in my suitcase

No the best security is to fly with a firearm so that you're allowed to use a hard-sided case with your own locks instead of the TSA locks.
